I have a regular old ags 001 Gameboy Advance SP and i'd like to put an ags 101 screen in it for obvious reasons but i've read that that isn't possible. However, i've seen many people mod a regular Gameboy Advance with the ags 101 screen with an adapter, so is that all i would need to mod my SP or is it just completely not possible?
One benefit of this approach is lack of ghosting. Scrolling is very clear on those screens. The actual backlit AGS-101 exhibits nasty smearing in comparison. Funnily enough the mass produced Chinese replacement 101 screens are actually better about ghosting than the original ones Nintendo used.

Here is my case, I have an original 32 pin GBA with a AGS 101 display and the adapter with the p1 red wire. I plugged everything and soldered the red wire to the left pin of ad1, and I couldn't see anything, no backlight no picture, I then tried to plug the red wire into the S1 point in the front part of the board and I managed to see the
The GBA SP to the right is an stock AGS-101 using a genuine 850mAh NDS battery (I can’t remember the age of the battery) Both are on their default brightness and about 50% volume using the SP’s speaker. Both are running the attract/demo mode of Dr. MARIO - Famicom classic cartridge. Both are AGS-101 boards. FunnyPlaying IPS Red LED in 2hrs

It’s the earliest version of the mod that involves harvesting a screen from the late-model Gameboy Advance SP AGS-101. That Nintendo device came out in late 2005 and replaced the earlier front-lit GBA SPA while the Gameboy Advance SP’s backlight and rechargeable battery made it popular at the time.
Definitely buy the IPS screen, it's amazing and a huge improvement over the 101. The soldering gives it 6 levels of brightness and I'll be honest it makes the system so much better to use so if you can I definitely recommend doing it. It's not too difficult. NightMongoose • 4 yr. ago.
The AGS-101 only came in 3 colors: Pearl blue, Pearl pink, and Graphite. Judging by the picture, its either a pearl blue or a silver gameboy. If it's silver then it can't be the 101, but if it is pearl blue it has to be the 101. Edit 2: Here's a picture of the AGS-101 and the AGS-001 side by side.
Hi guys, i bought a GBA an moded it with an ags 101 screen, bought on ebay. Also i use a ez flash omega. Sadly the battery life is very bad, only 2 - 3 hours with new AA batteries. Did someone have the same problem? Sometimes i heard, that the battery inside the ez flash could be empty, and
The AGS-101 version of the GBA SP has an actual backlight and is quite rare on the used market since it was manufactured in smaller numbers. You can tell an AGS-001 from an AGS-101 by looking at the color of the console. Barring limited edition models, AGS-101 was sold in North America in 3 exclusive colors- graphite, pearl blue, and pearl pink.
The DSLite on Setting #2 was notably brighter than the AGS-101 GBA-SP on its low setting. The DSLite on its setting #4 (highest) was slightly brighter than the GBA-SP on its high setting. Just slightly though. The AGS-101 GBA-SP was slightly brighter on its high setting than the DSLite on setting #3.
