The 1.4/1.5/2.0 tsi are all not driven by any kind of cambelt/chain so dont need changing at the same rates. Also to anyone comparing the price of a 1.4/1.5 tsi cambelt change, just remember that if you have a hybrid then the price will be more as i believe to get to the end and lock the engine up a lot more bits need removing.
We had multiple cars with volkswagen engines, all petrol. The last one was a octavia tsi 1.8. The engine died at 112.000 km. We suspect the timing chain moved a bit, because the cylinders didn't have compression because the gascets and the parts that let gasoline in were damaged. TSI motors or gasoline VW engines not gucci.

Mar 15, 2018. #5. I know, It's a three cylinder unit, and having that small engine in car this size sounds ridiculous. But in reality it makes 85 kw (116 hp) and 200 nm. This car feels much faster than a Megane with regular 1.6 litre (82 kw, 152 nm) unit, I think mainly because of its much better torque curve. OkHxR.
